Dental Checkups & Cleanings

Every six months, our team will perform a comprehensive dental checkup and cleaning to determine the current state of your teeth, gums, bite, and overall health. In addition to X-rays (if required), one of our dentists will also conduct a visual examination to check for cavities, decay, gum disease, or bite misalignment. We’ll also give you an oral cancer screening. But the visit isn’t over after a thorough exam. One of our dental hygienists will complete a professional cleaning to remove any accumulated plaque and tartar.

Children’s Dentistry

As a family practice, our dentists can help young patients establish good oral hygiene habits as well as set them up for dental success in the future. With our children’s dentistry services, we will provide regular checkups and cleanings and other similar preventive solutions as well as minor restorative care should it be required. By choosing Parma Family Dentistry, our team will make sure your child’s smile has the best chance to thrive in the years ahead.

Gum Disease Treatment

Causing significant problems for more than half of the adults in the United States, gum disease begins by attacking the soft oral tissues that surround teeth but can quickly target underlying bone, which can lead to tooth loss. But we can stop the progression with scaling and root planing. Effective at eliminating harmful bacteria above and below the gumline, this form of plaque and tartar removal encourages gum reattachment and restored oral health.

Fluoride Treatment

Tooth enamel may be the strongest substance in the body, but if it’s not properly protected, it can sustain significant damage caused by dental decay. With fluoride treatment delivered by our team during a regular dental checkup, we can cover the surfaces of your teeth so that bacteria cannot penetrate this top layer between appointments. Our team will also provide silver diamine fluoride (SDF) to stop decay in its tracks and safeguard children’s smiles until it’s time to consider restorative treatment.

Dental Sealants

The molars and premolars contain small crevices that can trap cavity-causing bacteria. Without proper protection and regular cleaning, these teeth can be on their way to needing tooth-colored fillings or custom-made crowns. With dental sealants, though, the clear coating that is applied by our dentists can safeguard the chewing surfaces so that food particles do not penetrate and cause future problems. Although sealants are commonly recommended for younger patients who are still learning how to brush, they can be just as beneficial for adults who are prone to cavities.

Nightguards for Bruxism

Whether it’s stress or a misaligned bite that is causing you to grind and clench your teeth at night, Dr. Tony and Dr. Judy are here to provide a simple solution – a customized nightguard. Designed to protect against enamel erosion and jaw pain when worn along the top row of teeth, it prevents the upper and lower arches from touching throughout the night. Over time, this device will minimize additional smile damage as well as improve jaw function by alleviating tension while you sleep.
